When planning your one-month old baby photo session, there are a few things to keep in mind.  There are a lot of great photos out there, but it's important to know what your one-month-old can do, because it might be too late or too early for some poses.  Gone are the newborn weeks when they stayed curled up in any position you placed them.  They are stretching out and increasing muscle strength.  However, they are only able to hold their head up for very short periods of time, but may be able to turn it from side to side.

That sleepy baby look is also a distant memory now that your one-month-old is awake for longer periods during the day.  You still might be lucky depending on your baby's personality and sleep behavior.

The exciting thing about this age is their increased awareness of you and their environment.  They might start to smile and gurgle and coo at you.  They can also start tracking moving objects.  Our baby Sloane, below, loved our big window and the light shining in.  It is also fun to watch them discover their hands and feet at this age.  Sloane enjoyed the outdoor segment of our shoot.  She was looking up through the trees and grasping at the tall grass.

Please enjoy a few photos from Sloane's session with her mom Dana.
